The productive capabilities of the industry suppliers and the factory will be mapped in order to promote business engagements in the country, said Rene Mendoza Acosta, local president of the Cámara Nacional de la Industria Electrónica, de Telecomunicaciones y Tecnologías de la Información (CANIETI).

He said, "the goal is to form partnerships between companies and suppliers so that they know what inputs and services can be consumed within the country and promote business between them."

Mapping the productive capabilities of the industry suppliers and the factory will be held in several cities, which include Juarez, Tijuana, Mexicali, Hermosillo, Monterrey, Saltillo and parts of Bajio, he commented.

He added that the collection of information started in October, but the response from companies has been successful.

The mapping of the productive capabilities of the industry suppliers and the factory seeks to register 8,000 companies in the country, including suppliers and IMMEX companies.

Mendoza Acosta said that what is sought is to increase the amount of national supplying since the percentage is quite low, even though there are many foreign companies that have their production processes in Mexico.

This mapping while be performed by CANIETI Juarez, with the cooperation of the Mexican Association of Industrial Parks, ProMexico and the Secretary of Economy.

Information for the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI) show that in the last year, factories from Juarez spent 267,392 millions of pesos in commodities of which only 9,500 million were bought from local companies.

This represents an increase in the cost of inputs that local providers sell, which has stayed in a steady rate of 3% and now, in this period, almost reached 4%.

This trend continues throughout the country since no region suppliers exceeds 10%.
